Reactor irradiation of titanium and its α-phase alloys containing3He and irradiation with4He ions leads to increased strength and reduced plasticity in the temperature range 20–400°C. The influence of the two types of irradiation upon these mater

Increased internal friction in uranium specimens, heating at various rates was measured by observing the damping of torsional vibrations. The polycrystalline specimens were either quenched from the gamma phase, annealed in the gamma and alpha phases

On the basis of the previously described increase in internal friction in uranium during heating, a semiquantitative evaluation was made of the dependence of increase in internal friction on the rate of heating, frequency and amplitude of vibrations.

The increase in the internal friction with time in heating at different rates was measured with respect to the damping of torsional vibrations during the heating of specimens. Specimens of γ-phase quenched, γ- and α-phase annealed, and recrystalli

A semi-quantitative evaluation was made of the relation between the increment of internal friction and the rate of thermal cycling and vibration amplitude. The results of calculations are in good agreement with the experimental data. The influence of
