A new benzopyran derivative, (–)-rel-5,7-dihydroxy-2-(4-methoxypentyl)-4,6-dimethylisochroman-8-one (1), was isolated from the red yeast rice of Monascus pilosus. The structure was determined by analyses of mass spectrometry and 1D and 2D NMR data.
