We have developed a coplanar waveguide (CPW) Kinetic Inductance Detector consisting of Al and NbTiN, coupled at its shorted end to a planar antenna. To suppress the odd mode due to direct coupling to sky radiation by the KID we have also developed fr

Kinetic inductance detectors are based upon high Q superconducting resonators. We have measured the electrical Noise Equivalent Power (NEP) of 100 nm thick 1/4λ coplanar waveguide Aluminum resonators at 100 mK using phase readout and radius readout.
To use highly resistive material for Kinetic Inductance Detectors (KID), new designs have to be done, in part due to the impedance match needed between the KID chip and the whole 50 Ω readout circuit. Chips from two new hybrid designs, with an alumi

Distant, dusty and extremely luminous galaxies form a key component of the high redshift universe, tracing the period of intense cosmic activity that ultimately gave rise to the present-day universe. These highly luminous galaxies, first detected in

Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detectors have great potential for large very sensitive detector arrays for use in, for example, ground and spaced based sub‐mm imaging. Being intrinsically readout in the frequency domain, they are particularly suited

We have designed a novel sub-mm radiation detector based upon a twin slot antenna placed in the focus of a Si elliptical lens. We use a novel Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) super-layer, consisting of 2 ¼ lambda dielectric layers of Si (epsilon = 11.
