A novel alkynyl-stabilized silver–copper alloy nanocluster of [Ag13−xCu6+x(tBuC6H4CC)14(PPh3)6](SbF6)3 has been prepared. The cluster exhibits high catalytic performance in catalytic hydrogenation reactions.

[Ag18Cu8(dppp)4(tBu-C6H4CC)22]4+ clusters are self-assembled into a two-dimensional layer structure with the aid of SbF6− anions. Quite rich coordination modes of alkynyl ligands and SbF6− are observed.
