The temporal variation of sedimentary organic matters (SOM) in the East China Sea (ECS) is not fully assessed due to the complicated natural and anthropogenic processes. In this study, the compositions and distributions of multi-biomarker indicators

Methane hydrate in the South China Sea (SCS) has extensively been considered to be biogenic on the basis of its δ13C and δD values. Although previous efforts have greatly been made, the contribution of thermogenic oil/gas has still been underestima

Microplastics are an emerging hazard in the marine environment, and considered to eventually sink into sediments. An investigation into the long-term variation of microplastic accumulation in sediment cores is essential for understanding the historic

Microplastic pollution in marine environments is of particular concern on its risk to the ecosystem. To assess and manage microplastic contaminants, their quantitative detection in environmental samples is a high priority. However, uncertainties of c

Anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM) is one of the most important biogeochemical processes associated with hydrate dissociation and carbon cycling. Though AOM has been extensively investigated, the variations of its microorganisms and lipid biomarker

Fe and Mn oxides and (oxy)-hydroxides are the most abundant solid-phase electron acceptors in marine sediments, and dissimilatory Fe/Mn reduction usually links with the anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM) and organic matter oxidation (OMO) in sedime
