Apelin and AVP have opposing effects water balance in humans and rodents. Here, the authors report that a metabolically stable apelin-17 analog, by acting at the kidney level, reduces AVP-induced antidiuresis and improves hyponatremia in rodents, dem

The renin-angiotensin system (RAS) is one of the main regulatory systems of cardiovascular homeostasis. It is mainly composed of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) and angiotensin II receptors AT1 and AT2. ACE and AT1 are targets of choice for the t

Cooperative signalling between receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) and integrins is thought to occur at the cell surface. Here the authors show that β1 integrin influences signalling of an RTK, c-Met, from a novel intracellular compartment they call au

Apelin is an important contributor to the renin-angiotensin axis, regulating cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurological functions. Apelin-17 has especially potent cardio-physiological effects but is rapidly degraded in human blood (t0.5 ∼ 4 min).
