In a recent class of phase field crystal (PFC) models, the density order parameter is coupled to powers of its mean field. This effectively introduces a phenomenology of higher-order direct correlation functions acting on long wavelengths, which is r

We propose that certain white dwarf (WD) planets, such as WD 1856+534 b, may form out of material from a stellar companion that tidally disrupts from common envelope (CE) evolution with the WD progenitor star. The disrupted companion shreds into an a

We investigate the nature of an unusually faint member of the $\epsilon$ Cha Association ($D\sim100$ pc, age $\sim5$ Myr), the nearest region of star formation of age $<$8 Myr. This object, 2MASS J11550336-7919147 (2M1155$-$79B), is a wide ($\sim$580

We consider whether the subset of carbon-rich asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars that exhibit detached, expanding circumstellar shells may reveal the past histories of these stars as having undergone helium shell flashes (thermal pulses) on the AGB.

Many stars harbour multi-planet systems. As these stars expand late in their evolutions, the innermost planet may be engulfed, leading to a common envelope (CE) event. Even if this is insufficient to eject the envelope, it may expand the star further
