The acoustical behavior of a harpsichord modeled after 17th‐century Flemish prototypes was studied using both experimental and analytical techniques. The vibrational modes of its enclosed air volume were measured and found to correspond closely to

Charles-Augustin Coulomb published data on the size, strength, and stiffness of harpsichord wire available in Paris in the late 18th century which has not been cited in the literature on musical instruments despite this century's revival of baroque m

The effect of terbium substitutions for yttrium in Y1Ba2Cu3O7−δ on the superconducting transition temperature, the resistivity, and the lattice constants are reported in this study. Samples of Y1−xTbxBa2Cu3O7−δ for ¢ = 0, 0.04, 0.08, 0.12, 0

A sensitive method has been developed for measuring rapidly the latent heat of vaporization or sublimation of metals of low volatility. Atoms from the saturated vapor emerge from a small Knudsen‐type effusion cell and impinge upon a hot filament. A

An account is presented of field emission experiments on contaminated and clean niobium surfaces. It is concluded that the equilibrium thermal end-forms of niobium single crystal emitters consist of small flat regions of low index crystallographic di

The flux of atoms from a Knudsen‐type effusion cell has been studied by means of a mass spectrometer. The heat of sublimation was obtained from the dependence of the ion current upon the cell temperature by means of the Clausius‐Clapeyron equatio

The high-field electron emission projection microscope has been used to study the field emission characteristics of cadmium telluride field emission cathodes. Stable currents were observed which exhibited light sensitive changes.
