The development of the first fully integrated 4-channel fiber optic gyroscope "optical engine" is presented. The optical engine integrates the equivalent of more than 24 discrete optical components into a hybrid chip with a size of 67x11x3 mm. After

The tuning range and bandwidth of an ArF laser were measured using 1 + 1 resonantly enhanced multiphoton ionization of NO. Operated as an injection-seeded oscillator/amplifier combination, the tuning range was 51,560-51,810 cm(-1); operated with sing

A model for stimulated Raman scattering in the atmosphere is described for the pure rotational transitions in N(2). This model accounts for the wavelength dependence of the N(2) polarizability anisotropy, altitude and seasonal temperature variations

The 3p (3)P state of O and the 2s(2)2p(2)3p (4)D(0) states of N are populated by two-photon absorption at 226 and 211 nm, respectively, and the resulting near-IR fluorescence is detected. The exciting photons are provided by stimulated Raman frequenc

We report what is to our knowledge the first two‐photon excitation spectroscopy of molecular fluorine. The F 1Πg and f 3Πg states are excited with two photons in the range of 206–212 nm. Detection is through vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) fluorescenc

We report what is to our knowledge the first two-photon-excited fluorescence spectroscopy of atomic fluorine. A doubled dye laser at 286 nm is Raman shifted in H(2) to 170 nm (sixth anti-Stokes order) to excite ground-state (2)P degrees (J) fluorine

We report a quantitative determination of the {ital v}=1 polarizability in H{sub 2} by measuring the optical Stark shift and splitting of the {ital Q}(0) and {ital Q}(1) vibrational Raman transitions. For the {ital Q}(1) transition, the {ital M}{sub
