Site-selective carboxylate abstraction has been achieved from [Mn(12)O(12)(O(2)CR)(16)(H(2)O)(4)] complexes by treatment with HNO(3) in MeCN. The reaction of the R = Ph or CH(2)Bu(t)() complexes with 4 equiv of HNO(3) gives [Mn(12)O(12)(NO(3))(4)(O(2

The quest for new Mn clusters that display large spin ground states or that can serve as a synthetic model for the water oxidation center in PSII has been pursued by using the dicarboxylate ligand m-phenylenedipropionate (mpdp2−). Ligand substituti

cis,trans-Os(H)2(NO)L2+ (L = PiPr3) rapidly adds ethylene to give an η2-ethylene complex with C2H4 trans to one hydride and cis to the other. One hydride and the four ethylene protons are exchangin...

The reaction between Cu(OCH3)2 and HL [L = −C(CO2CH3)3] in THF gives a mixture of two products, CuL(OCH3) and CuL2(THF)2. CuL(OCH3) was characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy and thermal decomposition studies, and its insolubili

Synthesis, spectroscopic, and X-ray structural characterization of Ru2HnCl4-nL4 (n = 2, 3) and Ru2H2F2L4 (L = PiPr3) are reported. The structure of Ru2HCl3L4 is also reported. These are dinuclear species containing two five-coordinate, approximately

Triflate in RuH(OTf)(CO)L2 (L = PtBu2Me) can be abstracted by NaBAr‘4 (Ar‘ = C6H3(CF3)2) in C6H5F to give 14-electron RuH(CO)L2+, which has agostic donation by one tBu methyl group from each phosphine. This cation binds CH2Cl2 in an η2 fashion,

The synthesis and characterization of RuCl(NO)L2 (L = PiPr3 and PtBu2Me) and RuX(NO)L2 (X = F, CH3, OSO2CF3, and H) are reported. All are planar at Ru. Reaction of Ru(OSO2CF3)(NO)L2 with NaBAr‘4 (Ar‘ = C6H3(CF3)2) in CH2Cl2 gives RuCl(CH2Cl)(NO)L

We report the X-ray diffraction structure and thermal reactivity of the metalloenediyne compound bis(1,2-bis(diphenylphosphinoethynyl)benzene)palladium(0) (Pd(dppeb)2, 1). The structure of 1 features a tetrahedral Pd(0) center with four phosphorus at

Aldehydes react with W2(OCH2tBu)6(py)2 to give W2(μ-CHR)(O)(OCH2tBu)6(py) compounds, where R = alkyl or aryl, which, in the presence of excess pyridine, yield W2(μ-CR)(μ-O)(OCH2tBu)5(py)2 compounds and neopentanol. A relative order of rates of red

OsH(Ph)(CO)L2 (L = PtBu2Me, Ph = C6H5) is synthesized and studied by spectroscopic and DFT (B3LYP) calculations. It forms 1:1 adducts with CO or MeCN, but D2 causes reductive elimination of C6H6. Reaction with C6D6 gives exclusively OsD(C6D5)(CO)L2.
