Volume changes in ${\mathrm{Zr}}_{65}{\mathrm{Al}}_{7.5}{\mathrm{Ni}}_{10}{\mathrm{Cu}}_{17.5}$ bulk metallic glass have been observed by positron annihilation and density measurements. Excess volume of the order of 0.1% is quenched in the bulk glass

Structural studies below and above the glass transition of bulk-amorphous Zr65Cu17.5Ni10Al7.5 were performed by means of high-temperature positron-lifetime measurements using a 58Co-positron source. A dense atomic packing is concluded from the observ

The reorientation of diatomic HY complexes in hydrogen-doped dilute Pd 100− x Y x alloys ( x = 1, 2, 4.5, 8) has been studied by means of internal friction (IF) in an inverted torsion pendulum and in a vibrating reed apparatus. As reported earli

The self-diffusion of 58Co radiotracer atoms in amorphous or isothermally crystallized Co79Nb14B7 was investigated using ion-beam sputtering for serial sectioning. As in other amorphous metallic alloys, the self-diffusivity DT in the as-produced melt

While it is well established by experiment that the relaxation processes in face-centred cubic metals discovered by P. G. Bordoni as well as related phenomena are due to the thermally activated formation of kink pairs on dislocation lines, the quanti

The internal friction of hydrogen-doped dilute Pd 100 - x RE x alloys (RE = Gd, Ce) (x = 1...9) shows three maxima in the temperature range between 10 K and 300 K. These maxima are interpreted as Zener peak of hydrogen in the β-phase (H a = 0.11 eV)

The interpretation of the Bordoni relaxation and of related relaxation phenomena in terms of the thermally activated, stress-assisted formation of kink pairs on dislocation lines is well established on assuming that the migration of kinks along dislo
