C60 fullerene reacted with phosphorus at high temperatures to graphitic materials with strongly differing properties. Several spectroscopic investigations as Raman, ESR, XPS and 31P-NMR as well as TEM and ESEM have shown that the structural order of

An X-ray diffraction method has been developed to characterize graphitic cathode carbon materials by the intensity of the d 002 peak, p 002 , relative to a manufactured electrographite (CS-49B, Union Carbide) as secondary standard. The carbon powder

Densities, viscosities, and specific conductivities were measured for ternary AlCl3-LiCl-NaCl melts in the range 0.5 ≤ XAlCl3 ≤ 0.8, 0 < XLiCl/(XLiCl + XNaCl) < 1. In addition, specific conductivities were measured for AlCl3 - NaCl binary melts.

The viscosity of NaCl-AlCl3 melt mixtures has been determined in the range 0.50 ≤ X ≤ 0.80, 160°C to 300°C. The viscosity of pure AlCl3 was measured over the temperature span 196°C to 286°C. A recently designed oscillating vessel viscometer w

An oscillation viscometer, interfaced to an on-line minicomputer for measurement of the viscosity of low-viscous hygroscopic melts up to 1200°C, is described. The paper gives a discussion of changes in experimental technique facilitated by use of th
