We describe an Er:SHARC fiber amplifier generating 1-nsec pulses having peak powers approaching 100 kW at a 30 kHz repetition rate. Pulse energies of 0.9 mJ were achieved with a longer pulse length of 15 nsec.

SHARC fiber lasers offer very large rectangular core areas of 30,000 μm^2 or more, peak and average powers well beyond the state of the art, good beam quality, and a mechanical flexibility allowing compact coiling.
