The upcoming migration of satellite services to higher bands, namely, the Ka‐ and Q/V‐bands, offers many advantages in terms of bandwidth and system capacity. However, it poses challenges as propagation effects introduced by the various atmospher

This paper describes special Ka- and Q-band receiver for the Alphasat signal developed for the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP) Prague and first operational experiences with it. The signal level monitoring enables us to derive the atmospheric a

2017 Conference on Microwave Techniques (COMITE).
In this contribution we describe selected attenuation events recorded by the "Alphasat" satellite receiver at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP) in Prague. First of all we compare the attenuation course and the rain rate course - good correla

Attenuation time series measured on the satellite-to-ground path in Prague in frequency bands 19 and 39 GHz and simultaneously measured rain intensity are analyzed statistically using one-year dataset. Frequency scaling is described by linear models.

The satellite signal drop can be caused either by atmospheric attenuation (rain, clouds, snow, …) either by unwanted satellite motion. This contribution demonstrates the software methods to extract the atmospheric attenuation from signal level reco

2016 26th International Conference Radioelektronika (RADIOELEKTRONIKA).
The article deals with description of spatial motion of the experimental radio-communications satellite Alphasat. The used Cartesian coordinates of the Alphasat satellite (given one week in advance in the OEM files of 5 minute resolution) are describ

This contribution is describing interesting attenuation events in 39 and 19 GHz frequency bands using the measurement of signal of satellite Alphasat in Prague. Rain rates at two sites were measured continuously. A table of highest measured attenuati

Atmospheric turbulences cause fast fading of the free space optical links. This document shows our first experimental results of measurement of the structure parameter of refractivity index C n 2 and its relation to free space optical attenuation on
