BACKGROUND: Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] is generally measured as total mass of the entire particle or as apolipoprotein(a) particle number. OBJECTIVE: The cholesterol content of Lp(a) [Lp(a)-C)] can be estimated by the vertical auto profile (VAP) method.

Apesar de dados epidemiológicos sugerirem associação inversa entre os níveis de colesterol das lipoproteínas de alta densidade (HDL-c) e doença aterosclerótica, estudos recentes de randomização mendeliana não provaram efeito causal protetor

Of the several existing methods for quantification of major subspecies of high density lipoprotein (HDL), HDL2 and HDL3, the methods based upon double precipitation are particularly useful for large-scale studies or for routine assay because of their

Vertical auto profile (VAP) method is a direct single test for measuring comprehensive lipoprotein cholesterol profile. It is based on a well-established method of ultracentrifugation that uses vertical rotor and single density gradient spin. VAP pro
