The bulk of the mass in star-forming environments is contained in photodissociated regions (PDRs) where the chemistry is controlled by the far ultraviolet radiation field coming from nearby ionizing sources. H II regions can be found throughout activ

We present a model of the photodissociation regions of NGC 4038, which is part of the Antennae galaxies. We have considered one-dimensional slabs of uniform density all having a maximum $A_V=10\,{\rm mag}$, interacting with plane-parallel radiation.

We present the first detection of N2H+ towards a low-mass protostellar outflow, namely the L1157-B1 shock, at about 0.1 pc from the protostellar cocoon. The detection was obtained with the IRAM 30-m antenna. We observed emission at 93 GHz due to the

We imaged the molecular outflows towards the cluster of high-mass young stellar objects G24.78+0.08 at high-angular resolution using SiO emission, which is considered the classical tracer of protostellar jets. We performed SiO observations with the V

As part of the WISH (Water In Star-forming regions with Herschel) key project, we report on the observations of several ortho- and para-H2O lines performed with the HIFI instrument towards two bright shock spots (R4 and B2) along the outflow driven b

In the framework of the Herschel-WISH key program, several ortho-H2O and para-H2O emission lines, in the frequency range from 500 to 1700 GHz, were observed with the HIFI instrument in two bow-shock regions (B2 and R) of the L1157 cloud. The primary

We present the first detection of hydrogen chlorine in a protostellar shock, by observing the fundamental transition at 626 GHz with the Herschel HIFI spectrometer. We detected two of the three hyperfine lines, from which we derived a line opacity <

We investigate the origin and nature of the profiles of water and ammonia observ ed toward the L1157-B1 clump as part of the HIFI CHESS survey (Ceccarelli et al. 2010) using a new code coupling a gas-grain chemical model with a parametric shock model
