The testing of an all-fiber erbium ultrashort pulsed laser in a distributed fiber temperature sensor as a source of probing pulses has been performed. Among the prospects of such an approach are an improved signal–noise ratio in the receiving syste

We review recently proposed concepts of infrared and terahertz photodetectors based on graphene van der Waals heterostructures and HgTe-CdHgTe quantum well heterostructures and demonstrate their potential.

We propose a new method of terahertz microscopy for imaging of biological tissues with a subwavelength spatial resolution. It makes it possible to surmount the Abbe diffraction limit and ensures a subwavelength resolution due to the solid immersion e

We evaluate the characteristics of the vertically stacked graphene-layer infrared photodetector (VS-GLIP). Each period of the stack (which constitutes the GLIP) consists of a GL (serving as a photosensitive element with a floating potential) sandwich

We report on a study of vibration influence on wavelength stability in a narrow-linewidth solid-state laser setup. Laser wavelength stability is crucial for application in different areas, e.g. fiber sensors. Definition of requirements for mechanical

We propose far-infrared photodetectors with the graphene nanoribbon (GNR) array as the photosensitive element and the black phosphorus (bP) base layer (BL). The operation of these GNR infrared photodetectors (GNR-IPs) is associated with the interband

We demonstrate amplification dynamics and compression of 1.9 μm ultrashort (330 fs) pulses using a normal dispersion thulium-doped germanosilicate fiber. The maximum pulse energy is 65 nJ and minimum pulse duration is 60 fs.
