This work studied the microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti-6Al-4V in situ alloyed with 3 wt% Cr by laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). Specimens with a relative density of 99.14 ± 0.11% were produced, showing keyhole and lack of fusion pores.

During the iron ore sintering process, two types of particles are present in the sinter bed: (1) fines, which are actively taking part in melting and the formation of secondary phases, and (2) coarse ores, which are partially interacting with the sur

The 2024 aluminum alloy (Al-Cu-Mg) is widely used in aerospace; however, due to its solidification-cracking tendency, its processability using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) remains a critical issue. The addition of 2 wt% CaB6 nanoparticles induces a

Synthesis experiments in the system CaO–SiO2–Al2O3–Fe2O3–MgO resulting in the formation of SFCA-III are reported. SFCA-III is a new n = 2 member of a polysomatic series of M 14+6nO20+8n compounds based on pyroxene-spinel modules which are of

High-pressure synthesis experiments in a piston–cylinder apparatus at 1.5 GPa/3.0 GPa and 1000 °C resulted in the formation of single-crystals of Sr2Ga2O5 and Sr5Ga6O14, respectively. The structures of both compounds have been solved from single-c

Single-crystals of Sr2Ga2O5 (I) and Sr5Ga6O14 (II) are prepared by reaction of a 2:1 molar mixture of SrCO3 and Ga2O3 in air (Pt crucible, 1100 °C, 1 d) and subsequent hot-press annealing (piston-cylinder apparatus, 1.5 GPa/3.0 GPa, 1000 °C, 72 h).
