The counterintuitive fact that wave chaos appears in the bending spectrum of free rectangular thin plates is presented. After extensive numerical simulations, varying the ratio between the length of its sides, it is shown that (i) frequency levels be

We introduce an atomic gravimetric sequence using Raman-type composite light pulses that excites a superposition of two momentum states with the same internal level. The scheme allows the suppression of common noise, making it less sensitive to exter

We create a spatially homogeneous field inside of a ring cavity by combining two transverse modes generated by a single laser through modulation. The interference term between the two modes averages out because of the frequency difference between the

We design a Stern-Gerlach apparatus that separates quasispin components on the lattice, without the use of external fields. The effect is engineered using intrinsic parameters, such as hopping amplitudes and on-site potentials. A theoretical descript

Theoretical and experimental results for in-plane vibrations of a uniform rectangular plate with free boundary conditions are obtained. The experimental setup uses electromagnetic-acoustic transducers and a vector network analyzer. The theoretical ca

The coherent electronic transport phenomena through quantum devices is difficult to observe due to thermal smearing and dephasing, the latter induced by inelastic scattering by phonons or impurities. In other wave systems, the temperature and dephasi

We obtain values for the shear coefficient both below and above the critical frequency by comparing the results of the Timoshenko beam theory with experimental data published recently. The best results are obtained, by a least-square fitting, when di

We present a simple experiment that allows advanced undergraduates to learn the principles and applications of spectroscopy. The technique, known as acoustic resonance spectroscopy, is applied to study a vibrating rod. The setup includes electromagne

A schematic model for baryon excitations is presented in terms of a symmetric Dirac gyroscope, a relativistic model solvable in closed form, that reduces to a rotor in the non-relativistic limit. The model is then mapped on a nearest neighbour tight

We present the first experimental microwave realization of the one-dimensional Dirac oscillator, a paradigm in exactly solvable relativistic systems. The experiment relies on a relation of the Dirac oscillator to a corresponding tight-binding system.
