The foundations of the theoretical concept of nonbranched radical-chain reactions involving heterogeneous catalysts are considered for hydrocarbon pyrolysis. These include the phenomenological model and the concept of the “catalysis sphere.” Surf

The influence of non-equilibrium vibrational excitation of CH3F molecules on the rate of their reaction with bromine atoms has been investigated. A three-fold increace in the reaction rate has been registered at CH3F and Br2 pressures of 0.07 Torr an

The ratio of the rate constants has been measured for the reaction of atomic chlorine with CH4 and CD4 within the temperature range 163–613 K. At low temperatures (163–300 K) the ratio is 2.2 exp (1180/RT). The pre-exponential factor of 2.2 agree

Photobromination of SiH4 under uv-irradiation at various wavelengths has been studied. Rate constants for the elementary reactions Br(2P3/2)+SiH4→HBr+SiH3 (k=3.2×10−11 exp(−21.8±2.5)/RT, cm3/s) and Br* (2P1/2)+SiH4→HBr+SiH3 (k*=(3±1)×10

The photochlorination of methyl fluoride has been studied at low pressures. Excited (2P1/2) chlorine atoms have been found to participate in the reaction. The ratio of the excited and ground state rate constants has been estimated at room temperature

The rate constants for Br(2P1/2) and Br(2P3/2) atoms in the reaction Br+CH3F→HBr+CH2F in photobromination of CH3F have been determined. Their ratio is 10−(2.6±0.5) exp(10100±1000/RT) in the temperature range of 60–200 °C.

A rate increase of SiH3Br formation in SiH4 photobromination under irradiation by a cw CO2 laser is reported. At low SiH4 pressures (∼1–2 Pa) the radiation effect is shown to be isotope-selective.
