Using optical spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis, the nature of defects in γ-irradiated lithium fluoride crystals is found, mechanisms of their formation are proposed, and the absorption bands at 385 (FLF centers) and 506 nm (FLVa+ centers)

An alternative model of the Nc-center as a complex defect consisting of the F 2 + -center perturbed by the FL defect (where FL is Li0 in the F-center) is confirmed by the methods of optical spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis of LiF crystals.
