A detailed analysis of the disturbances of a magnetic field near Phobos was carried out. Two types of force lines were found. Some of them correspond to the force lines of the solar wind disturbed by an obstacle. The others are related to Phobos. The

This paper describes the boundaries which have been observed by the magnetic field experiment aboard the VEGA-1 and VEGA-2 spacecraft during the Halley encounters on March 6 and 9, 1986. The outer boundaries are found to be closely related to the pre

The magnetic fields of Mars have been measured from Phobos 2 with high temporal resolution in the tail and down to an 850-km altitude. During four successive highly elliptical orbits, the position of the bow shock as well as that of a transition laye

During the encounter with comet P/Halley the magnetic field measurements aboard Vega-1 and Vega-2 have revealed short magnetic field depressions (MFD) at times of a generally rather smooth rise or fall of the magnetic field. A maximum MFD magnitude o

During the encounter with comet Halley, the magnetometer (MISCHA) aboard the Vega 1 spacecraft observed an increased level of magnetic field turbulence, resulting from an upstream bow wave. Both Vega spacecraft measured a peak field strength of 70–
