The freshwater pondsnail Viviparus bengalensis (LINNAEUS) was exposed to sublethal concentrations of pentachlorophenol (1.561 mg/l) and sodium pentachlorophenate (0.991 mg/l). Both the chemicals caused considerable damage in the mantle of the snail.
