Atherosclerosis was found in all ascending aorta biopsies of 125 patients aged 42 to 65 years who underwent aortocoronary bypass surgery. Lipid spots only were found in 91.2% of cases, in 11 patients (8.8%) there were lipid plaques. Three main types
