Background: Breast Cancer (BC) patients exhibit a wide variety of responses to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). This is driven by factors both intrinsic (e.g., mutations, dysregulation, metabolic reprogramming) and extrinsic (e.g., nutrient/drug perf

Background Immunotherapy (IO) is expected to become a part of standard neoadjuvant therapy for early-stage, triple-negative breast cancer. However, only a minority of patients benefit from the addition of IO to standard neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT

JCVI-syn3A, a robust minimal cell with a 543 kbp genome and 493 genes, provides a versatile platform to study the basics of life. Using the vast amount of experimental information available on its precursor, Mycoplasma mycoides capri, we assembled a

Background Dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) MRI is commonly used for diagnosis and treatment planning of cancers. Its main use is the identification of tumors in soft tissues, where the tumor progression-induced angiogenic changes result in leaky vasc

Background: Surgical oncologists currently rely on 2D image slices, such as those from mammograms, to assess the locations and extents of their patients’ breast cancer tumors. In order to accurately evaluate the potential success of various surgica

Introduction Intrinsic breast cancer subtypes (e.g., Normal-like, Luminal A/B, HER2-enriched, Triple Negative) vary in their responsiveness to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) and are associated with differing long-term prognosis. Expression dis-regul

Background A single neuron cannot think, just as a single hepatocyte cannot filter blood. The functions of the tissues that make up our bodies are emergent, depending on both their constituent cells' internal biology, as well as how they interact wit

We present a whole-cell fully dynamical kinetic model (WCM) of JCVI-syn3A, a minimal cell with a reduced genome of 493 genes that has retained few regulatory proteins or small RNAs. Cryo-electron tomograms provide the cell geometry and ribosome distr
