A photoacoustic detection of tritiated water (HTO) is presented. The method uses cantilever-enhanced photoacoustic spectroscopy (CEPAS) to reach sub-ppb sensitivity for HTO in the gas phase. A noise equivalent concentration of 0.88 ppb is reached wit

Formaldehyde is a carcinogenic indoor air pollutant emitted from common wood-based materials. Low-cost sensing of formaldehyde is difficult due to inaccuracies in measuring low concentrations and susceptibility of sensors to changing indoor environme

A real time trace gas detector for benzene is demonstrated. The measurement system takes an advantage of modest enrichment through short adsorption periods to reach a ppt-level detection limit with a sampling cycle of 90 s, which includes sample adso

We present here the first application of cantilever-enhanced photoacoustic spectroscopy for aerosol absorption measurements. A noise equivalent absorption of 1.3x10-10 cm-1 (one standard deviation) is reached with 20 s sampling time.

Optical power measurements are needed in practically all technologies based on light. Here, we report a general-purpose optical power detector based on the photoacoustic effect. Optical power incident on the detector’s black absorber produces an ac

Photoacoustic spectroscopy (PAS) is a sensitive gas sensing technique widely used for single species detection in small sample volumes [1] . The operation principle of PAS relies on the conversion of electromagnetic radiation into acoustic waves by t
