Mini rats are a transgenic rat strain carrying antisense gene for rat growth hormone (GH), resulting in retarded growth and a lower blood GH level (136 +/- 42.0 ng/mL) compared with that of age-matched parental strain Wistar rats (329 +/- 337 ng/mL).

To evaluate the ocular hypotensive effect of topical CS-088, an angiotensin AT1 receptor antagonist, and the effect of CS-088 on aqueous humor dynamics. The effects of CS-088 on intraocular pressure (IOP) were studied in 2 models of rabbit ocular hype

We have shown that the Mini rat, a transgenic rat strain carrying the antisense transgene for rat growth hormone, is a useful model to investigate the role of growth hormone in the expression of hepatic microsomal cytochrome P450s (CYPs). However, th

Recent investigations suggest that cytotoxic cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF)alpha and interleukin (IL)-1beta or free radicals play an essential role in destruction of pancreatic beta cells in Type 1 diabetes and that, therefore, anti-ox

Mini rats, a Wistar-derived transgenic rat strain harboring a rat growth hormone (GH) antisense gene, show lower plasma GH levels than Wistar rats. In our previous study, Mini rats showed a smaller femur size with lower mineral density and a reductio

Growth hormone (GH) plays an important role in longitudinal bone growth, and hypophysectomized rats have generally been used as a model for GH deficiency in humans. Recently, researchers have bred Mini rats, a Wistar-derived transgenic rat strain har

Growth hormone (GH) plays an important role in longitudinal bone growth, and hypophysectomized rats or mutant rats exhibiting dwarfism have generally been used as a GH-deficient model for humans. There also has been a GH deficient model produced by s

A histopathological study was carried out on the liver of thioacetamide (TAA)-treated rats of Jcl: Wistar-TgN(ARGHGEN)1Nts strain (Mini rats), in which the expression of growth hormone (GH) gene is suppressed by the presence of antisense transgene, r

We investigated the contribution of Candida albicans ALS1 , which encodes a candidal adhesin, to the pathogenesis of experimental murine oropharyngeal candidiasis. Our results indicate that the ALS1 gene product is important for the adherence of the
