The characteristics of a novel method of α-amylase activity determination were investigated. The principles of this method were based on the light absorbance change through a gelatinized starch-agar gel fixed in a well of a microplate caused by α-a

The Autographa californica multinucleocapsid nuclear polyhedrosis virus (AcMNPV) has a broad host range among Lepidoptera. In contrast, the Spodoptera exigua MNPV (SeMNPV) can replicate efficiently only in S. exigua larvae or S. exigua-derived cell l

A novel method for measuring α-amylase-activity was developed in this study. By adding an authentic α-amylase solution to a mixture of agar and gelatinized rice starch, which was fixed in a well of a microplate, the gel turbidity measured at 655 nm
