We demonstrate the integration of a 980nm VCSEL and beam-scanner based on highly dispersive slow-light waveguides. We obtain a narrow divergence angle of below 0.5° and continuous beam steering of 4.5° using electro-thermal wavelength tuning.

An ultra-compact electro-absorption GaInAs/GaAs QW modulator based on a slow-light Bragg reflector waveguide was fabricated. A low driving voltage below 0.5V was demonstrated for a 50μm long device.
