Optical communication networks use electrical constellation converters requiring optical-electrical-optical conversions and expensive symbol-rate limiting electronics. In this paper, a generic method for all-optical silicon-photonic conversion of amp

We demonstrate a novel low-cost photonic-layer secured communication system that incorporates intensity modulation direct detection (IM/DD) scheme with a 4-level pulse amplitude modulation (PAM-4). In the proposed system, the signal is buried under a

We experimentally demonstrate a proof of concept resolution-enhanced flexible spectral shaper, using a spectral encoding block with high resolution features before the spatial diffractive element. Ultrahigh 125MHz resolution is obtained, refining pre

We propose a novel photonic spectral processor which overcomes current 0.8GHz spectral resolution limitation. The new spectral processor uses a Fabry Perot interferometer array located before the dispersive element of the system, thus significantly i

We demonstrate stealthy and encrypted IM/DD PAM-4 transmission where the signal is buried under ASE noise and coded with spectral phase mask. We report a considerable SNR gain which leads to error-free transmission despite negative OSNR.

We show in an experiment a covert transmission of QPSK and 64-QAM over up to 100km of SSMF, digitally encrypted with spectral phase mask, buried under ASE noise with negative -15 dB/0.1nm OSNR. We record a post-FEC error free BER for a stealthy chann

We propose a method for stealthy, covert, fiber-optic communication. In this method, the power of the transmitted signal is spread and lowered below the noise level both in time as well as in frequency domains which makes the signal “invisible”.

Encryption and steganography of the physical layer are experimentally demonstrated. We show a coherent stealthy transmission of 16 Gbps under negative −15 dB OSNR with pre-FEC BER of 1e-3, co-transmitted with public channel.

The pump-probe configuration has been extensively implemented in silicon ring resonators (RRs) for all-optical switching and wavelength conversion. While the pump’s influence on the probe’s signal is well known, the effect of the pump on the prob
