Ultrashort pulse ablation has become a useful tool for micromachining and biomedical surgical applications. Implementation of ultrashort pulse ablation in confined spaces has been limited by endoscopic delivery and focusing of a high peak power pulse

We perform subsurface ablation of atherosclerotic plaque using ultrafast pulses. Excised mouse aortas containing atherosclerotic plaque were ablated with ultrafast near-infrared (NIR) laser pulses. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) was used to obser

We demonstrate that second-harmonic radiation imaging probes are efficient biomarkers for imaging in living tissue. We show that 100 nm and 300 nm BaTiO3 nanoparticles used as contrast markers could be detected through 50 mu m and 120 mu m of mouse t

Deep tissue in vivo imaging remains a great challenge and we propose to use second-harmonic radiation imaging probes (SHRIMPs) as long-term non bleaching biomarkers. We show that the contrast of SHRIMPs with autofluorescence and endogenous second-har

Ultrashort pulse laser ablation is a useful tool in material processing and biomedical fields [1]. A key challenge to expanding the applications of laser ablation is delivering high peak power, ultrashort laser pulses beyond the reach of conventional

We demonstrate second-harmonic nanoparticles as nanoprobes for long-term and in vivo imaging. The nanoparticles emitted a stable signal over five-hour continuous excitation and showed great contrast in a living mouse tail at 100 mu m depth.

Coronary artery disease, the main cause of heart disease, develops as immune cells and lipids accumulate into plaques within the coronary arterial wall. As a plaque grows, the tissue layer (fibrous cap) separating it from the blood flow becomes thinn
