Impedance-based Coulter counters and its derivatives are widely used cell analysis tools in many laboratories and use normally DC or low frequency AC to perform these electrical analyses. The emergence of micro-fabrication technologies in the last de

The fabrication of continuous-relief diffractive optical elements by direct laser beam writing in photoresist is analyzed. The main limitation and tolerances are identified, and their influence on optical performance is quantified. Fabricated structu

An increasing number of commercially available and proprietary design algorithms based on scalar or electromagnetic theory allow the calculation of a large variety of diffractive optical elements (DOEs) with excellent performance and high diffraction

The use of diffractive beam-shaping elements in hybrid or monolithic microsystems is investigated. Compact optical systems require diffractive structures with small grating periods for creating large deflection angles. Such elements are difficult to

Numerical simulations have been performed to study the influence of resist-developing errors on continuous-relief microlenses. For very low Fresnel numbers (N 2), the focal length is essentially determined by the diffraction at the lateral pattern of
We have designed and are currently constructing a recurrent neural network with fully interconnected channels and an optical feedback loop. We have mainly used diffractive microlens arrays instead of bulk achromats for illumination, imaging and fan-i

We describe an interferometric method for measuring effective focal length of lenses. Measurement of the effective focal lengths of macroscopic refractive lenses and of a diffractive microlens are performed within the limit of paraxial approximation.

Microstencil lithography, i.e. local deposition of micrometer scale patterns through small shadow masks, is a promising method for metal micropattern definition on polymer substrates that cannot be structured using organic-solvent-based photoresist t
