Abstract Within the growing family of strained carbon nanohoops and nanobelts, [10]CPP arguably offers the best compromise between synthetic accessibility and strong binding affinity for C60. In this work, we report the synthesis of two nitrogen-con

Stable radical cation π-dimers of superhelicenes are produced by ESI-MS. Dissociation into two singly charged ions is investigated using energy-resolved collision experiments. DFT calculations show the preferred formation of the open-shell dication.

We compare the stability of [n]cycloparaphenylene ([n]CPP)-based host–guest complexes with Li+@C60 and C60 in the gas and solution phase. Our experiments reveal a significant increase in stability for the complexes featuring [9–12]CPP with Li+@C6
Cobalt dioxolenes are a well-known class of switchable coordination compounds showing an intramolecular electron transfer, which is always accompanied by a spin state change at the cobalt center. Here, we present the very first example of such bistab

We investigate the gas‐phase chemistry of noncovalent complexes of [10]cycloparaphenylene ([10]CPP) with C60 and C70 by means of atmospheric pressure photoionization and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. The literature‐known [1 : 1] comp

Switchable valence tautomeric metal complexes have been long suggested for applications as chemosensors. However, no such molecular sensors have been yet reported. Here, we present a concept for sensing and the first prototype molecular sensor based

Here, we present a novel conjugate based on a weakly electron-donating Zn(II)-meso-tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)porphyrin linked to a strongly electron-accepting C60. From spectroscopic and electrochemical investigations a 1.9 eV high charge-separated
