We demonstrate experimentally the feasibility of a low phase noise CO-MB-OFDM burst transmitter for time and spectral optical aggregation based on our proposition of a 100 kHz linewidth and 100 ns switching time laser source.

We experimentally compare the performances of 40 Gbps DP-BPSK, 40 Gbps DP-QPSK and 100 Gbps DP-QPSK modulation formats over 10x100 km of DCF-free transmission lines using either G.652 or G.655 fibres.

The sensitivity of coherent 100Gbps QPSK and 200Gbps 16QAM-OFDM to practical implementation impairments is investigated. In spite of its higher sensitivity, we demonstrate that the implementation complexity of 16QAM-OFDM is manageable experimentally.
