The competition between fusion-fission and quasi-fission in the reactions 48 Ca+ 208 Pb and 48 Ca+ 244 Pu(E * = 40MeV) is investigated using the pre-scission neutron multiciplicity distributions ( PSNMD ) obtained with a new analysis protocol.

The fusion-fission process for the synthesis of superheavy elements is discussed on the basis of fluctuation-dissipation dynamics. Recently, experiments at Dubna on fission of superheavy nuclei were carried out, and the mass and total kinetic energy

To investigate 5H resonance states with a better instrumental resolution, we utilized the two-neutron transfer reaction 3H(t, p)5H accomplished with the use of a cryogenic liquid-tritium target and 57.5-MeV triton beam. As a result of this study, a v

The X-ray attenuation coefficients of bismuth and of uranium were measured in the regions of 40–240 and 70–240 keV, respectively, using a tuneable hard X-ray source based on the linear electron accelerator at the University of Ghent. Results were

A non-destructive analysis of the distribution of heavy elements in samples can be performed using tunable gamma-ray sources. By scanning a sample using photons having two energies, one just below and one just above the K-edge of the element under st

During the last three years we have investigated the possibility of creating a tunable high-energy photon source based on crystal diffraction of bremsstrahlung. An operating source was constructed at the 15 MeV linear accelerator of the university of

It is shown how the tuneable gamma-ray source based on a bremsstrahlung source and a crystal, diffracting in Cauchois geometry, can be made intense and monochromatic using an asymmetrically cut Si crystal. The results and implications are here presen
