ESR spectra of the methyl, ethyl, n-propyl and allyl radicals adsorbed on silica gel were analysed in terms of g-factor and hyperfine coupling anisotropies. The magnitudes of the anisotropies demonstrate that at 4 K the methyl radical reorients about
