The impacts of biological invasions remain poorly known for some habitats, regions and taxa. To date, there has been no comprehensive effort to review and synthesize the impacts of invasive mollusc species in South America. In this paper, we provide

Even after almost 30 years of Limnoperna fortunei introduction into South America, it is still unclear how the source and propagules are connected. Here, we present genetic evidence of population connectivity and gene flow of L. fortunei propagules f

This work evaluates the tolerance of adult Limnoperna fortunei to aerial exposure at different temperatures. The aim was to contribute knowledge about factors, such as the mussel’s capacity for survival out of water over long periods, allowing the

Non-native species have been introduced at escalating rates during the last decades, mainly due to the dispersion generated by the increasing trade and transport worldwide. Mollusks, the second largest metazoan phylum in terms of species richness, ar

The genus Omalonyx d’Orbigny, 1837, includes neotropical semi-aquatic succineid slugs and comprises six recognized species to date. Field surveys across continental South America recovered five of the six recognized species. According to the morpho

Phylogenetic niche conservatism (PNC) shapes the distribution of organisms by constraining lineages to particular climatic conditions. Conversely, if areas with similar climates are geographically isolated, diversification may also be limited by disp

The family Halacaridae comprises more than one thousand mostly marine or rarely freshwater species. Many are predacious, but among marine mites, some genera evolved the ability to feed on macroalgae. We inferred a time-calibrated phylogeny based on 1

Limnoperna fortunei (Dunker 1857) is a freshwater mussel with physiological tolerance to different environmental conditions, which may explain its success as an invasive species. The role of abiotic factors in its establishment, abundance and project
