The oxidation reaction on the Ti (0001) surface at 400°C and 3.7 × 10-6 Pa of O2 pressure was observed in real time by photoelectron spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation to investigate the oxygen uptake curve and oxidation state during growth o

The oxidation kinetics on the Ti(0 0 0 1) single crystal surface was investigated by real-time Auger electron spectroscopy combined with reflection high-energy electron diffraction (RHEED-AES) and high-resolution photoelectron spectroscopy using sync

High-resolution photoelectron spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation was applied for monitoring in real time the oxidation kinetics on the Ti(0001) surface at 405 C with dry O{sub 2} gas. The time evolution of O 1s photoelectron intensity showed a

When titanium (Ti) metal absorbs a lot of hydrogen, the XPS spectrum shows a remarkable change in the valence band. Making use of molecular orbital (MO) calculations, we ascribed the peak shift to the formation of a hydrogen-induced state of Ti. The

Surface segregation process of dissolved elements on a Fe(1 0 0) surface and the initial oxidation processes of the sulfur segregated surfaces were studied in situ by AES and RHEED. The surface enrichment of sulfur has formed a c(2×2) superstructure

In an extremely high-vacuum (XHV) system, hydrogen outgassing is the most important factor to obtain vacuum pressure below 1.0×10−10 Pa. Titanium is an interesting material for applications in XHV construction. This work will demonstrate a clear c
