We observe the proton signals produced by laser interaction with thin-foil targets of polyimide and of copper. We change the thickness of the polyimide target to $7.5{\mu}m$ , $12.5{\mu}m$ , and $50{\mu}m$ . High-energy protons with the maximum energ

A compact laser electron source usable instead of radioisotopes as an X-ray source for nondestructive diagnosis was developed. High-energy electrons were generated by an ultrashort pulse focused on a thin tape target. The laser energy was only 15 mJ.

A dependence of cutoff proton kinetic energy on laser prepulse duration has been observed. Amplified spontaneous emission pedestal duration is controlled by a fast electrooptic pulse slicer where the rise time is estimated to be 130 ps. We demonstrat

We observe UV harmonics and protons with a 7.5-mum-thick polyimide target irradiated with a high-intensity Ti:sapphire laser. The laser intensity dependence of UV harmonics and proton signal is measured by varying the distance between the target surf
