Treatment of enantiomerically pure 1-chlorovinyl p-tolyl sulfoxides, derived from cyclic ketones and (R)-chloromethyl p-tolyl sulfoxide, with the lithium enolate of tert-butyl carboxylates gave adducts in quantitative yields as single diastereomers.
