For gauge theory, the matrix element for any physical process is independent of the gauge used. However, since this is a formal statement, it does not guarantee this gauge independence in every case. An example is given here where, for a physical pro

We prove the general theorem that the real part of the forward two-body scattering amplitude is positive at sufficiently high energies if, above a certain energy, the total cross section increases monotonically to infinity at infinite energy.

The production processes are identified that contribute to the rise of the total cross section in proton–proton scattering at extremely high energies, s → ∞ . At such energies, the scattering can be described by a black disk (completely absorpt

60 Years of Yang–Mills Gauge Field Theories.
Motivated by the experimental data on the Higgs particle from the ATLAS Collaboration and the CMS Collaboration at CERN, the standard model, which is a Yang–Mills non-Abelian gauge theory with the group [Formula: see text], is augmented by scalar q

Using a variational method, we recently determined an electromagnetic “signature” for characterizing a straight wire in free space. The signature consists of the first five resonant frequencies and their widths, more compactly expressed as the fi

Using the results from relativistic gauge field theory, a phenomenological model is developed for the production of an isolated Higgs particle H. The specific process is p + p → A + H + B , where the group of particles A (B) mostly goes down one (t
