It has been established that a feature of lining service at the metal-slag-lining-gaseous atmosphere interface of a furnace is overgrowth of it with the products of reaction of the refractory with the molten metal and slag.

A method has been developed for production of periclase-carbon parts from periclase-lime patching powders with the addition of graphite kish. The periclase-carbon parts made using parallel mixing of the components possess higher properties.
