We present the results of the recent precise S 17 (0) determination by the Seattle-TRIUMF 7 Be(p, γ ) 8 B collaboration. We discuss new investigations of the robustness of our estimated extrapolation uncertainty. We comment on the comparison of dire

We present new measurements of the 7Be(p,γ)8B cross section from E ¯ cm = 116 to 2460 keV. Our new measurements lead to S 17 ( 0 ) = 22.1 ± 0.6 ( expt ) ± 0.6 ( theor ) eV b based on data from E ¯ cm = 116 to 362 keV, where the central value is

We measured the 7Be(p,γ)8B cross section from Ep = 221 keV to 1376 keV. A uniformly distributed beam that illuminated the whole area of a small diameter target was used to eliminate systematic error from 7Be target non-uniformity. The energy loss pr

The fabrication process for a metallic 7 Be target of small diameter is described. Targets fabricated in this manner have been subjected to systematic tests and one of them has been used in a 7 Be(p,γ) 8 B measurement at the University of Washington

The Solar Neutrino Problem (SNP) rivals CP violation as one of the oldest problems in physics that lacks a compelling explanation. The Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO)—a heavy-water Cherenkov detector—is the first solar neutrino experiment that

This paper discusses the phenomenon of surface microdischarge induced by high voltage, and techniques for the reduction and discrimination of such breakdowns in ultralow background proportional counters. An array of ultra-low background /sup 3/He-fil

The standard electro-weak model predicts negligible violation of time-reversal invariance in light quark processes. We report on an experimental test of time-reversal invariance in the beta decay of polarized neutrons as a search for physics beyond t

The stellar 7 Be (p, γ)8B reaction rate has the largest uncertainty among all nuclear reaction rates in the standard solar model. However, the solar neutrino flux predicted for the majority of proposed and existing solar neutrino detectors is direct

Current solar neutrino detectors measure a considerably lower flux of electron-flavor neutrinos than predicted by solar models. This could be an indication of neutrino oscillations, which would provide direct evidence that neutrinos have mass. The Su
