The possibility to attain ferromagnetic properties in transparent semiconductor oxides such as ZnO is very promising for future spintronic applications. We demonstrate in this review that ferromagnetism is not an intrinsic property of the ZnO crystal

The influence of the grain boundary (GB) specific area sGB on the appearance of ferromagnetism in Fe-doped ZnO has been analysed. A review of numerous research contributions from the literature on the origin of the ferromagnetic behaviour of Fe-doped

It has been demonstrated for the first time that severe plastic deformation (SPD) permits to produce the metallic alloys containing two coexisting amorphous phases from the crystalline multiphase alloy. The as-cast Ni60Nb18Y22 alloy was coarse-graine

In this work, we studied the behavior of the Nd–Dy–Fe–Co–Cu–B alloy for permanent magnets under high pressure torsion (HPT). In the initial state of the studied alloy, it mainly contained the crystalline phase τ1 (Nd, Dy)2(Fe, Co, Cu) 14B.

New radical-cation salts based on bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (BEDT-TTF or ET) were synthesized: (ЕТ)2[8,8′-Br2-3,3′-Fe(1,2-C2B9H10)2] (1) and (ЕТ)[8,8′-I2-3,3′-Fe(1,2-C2B9H10)2] (2). Their crystal structures were studied by X-r

The microstructure of Nd–Fe–B-based liquid-phase sintered alloy has been studied. The Nd2Fe14B/Nd2Fe14B GBs can be pseudo-incompletely (or pseudo-partially) wetted by the Nd-rich melt. Such GBs form the non-zero contact angle with the melt in the

The NdFeB-based alloys were invented in 1980s and remain the best-known hard magnetic alloys. In order to reach the optimum magnetic properties, the grains of hard magnetic Nd2Fe14B phase have to be isolated from one another by the (possibly thin) la

High pressure torsion (HPT) has been used for the severe plastic deformation (SPD) treatment of molten Fe–12.3 at% Nd–7.6 at% B alloy (5 GPa, 1 rpm, 5 rot, room temperature). After HPT the microstructure contained the nanograins of the ferromagne

The excellent properties of heavy tungsten-based alloys are based on the combination of hardness of W grains, as well on the toughness and ductility of the binder with low melting temperature (usually containing nickel, iron, or copper). The topology
