Within the last years, Q CELLS has developed a silicon solar cell structure yielding an energy conversion efficiency exceeding 24%. The cell structure features a so-called passivating contact consisting of an interfacial oxide and an n-type polysilic

We present a novel method to analyze the local current-voltage I-V characteristics of both solar cells and cell precursors. The method, which we call “Suns-ILIT”, is based on illuminated lock-in thermography (ILIT) measurements and photoluminesce

In this contribution, we present an approach to simulate the energy conversion efficiencies of monocrystalline p-type silicon passivated emitter and rear cells (PERC) using a state-of-the-art design of experiment (DoE) and metamodeling approach. We p

Hanwha Q CELLS has developed bifacial p-Cz PERC cells with average efficiency in mass production above 22%, measured with 1000 W/m² front illumination. The bifaciality factor of the cells is determined to be 78%. A comparison of bifacial vs. equival
We determine the uncertainties on simulated efficiencies of silicon solar cells due to uncertainties of the fundamental physical models. To determine these, we refit their parameters to the underlying measurement data. Using a metamodeling and Monte

We present an approach to analyze and identify the predominant loss mechanisms in silicon solar cells. For this end, all losses are converted to potential efficiency gains and are thus directly comparable to one another as a derivative-like quantity.

Simulation results concerning laser-doped selective emitters (LDSE) for the phosphorous doped front side of passivated emitter and rear solar cells are presented. We introduce a formula for different emitter doping profiles to study the influence on
