The title compound (3) has been obtained by rhodium(II) catalysed decomposition and cyclization of methoxycarbonyl[2-(2′-thienyl)benzoyl]diazomethane (2) followed by spontaneous Stenves rearrangement of the initialy formed sulphur ylide (1).
