The classic paper 'A Garbage Can Model of Organizational Choice' by Cohen, March and Olsen (1972) both heralded a significant expansion of the study of organizational decision making to non-industrial settings, in particular universities, and served

We adopt a pipeline approach to accelerate 3D time-domain finite-difference waveform inversion codes using graphics cards, thus avoiding domain decomposition. The key designs include streaming through the volume one block at a time and propagating th

In this abstract, we present some initial results on a specific nonlinear pseudoacoustic wave equation in anisotropic media, including forward modeling, linearization, and the adjoint method. Our objective is to find a robust and efficient method for

An intuitive method is presented for extending Hale-McClellan migration operators to handle surveys binned and stacked with in-line and cross-line spacings unequal. This avoids re-interpolating the input to 3D migration, either externally or internal

In addition to forums and special sessions, the 2002 Annual Meeting included several postconvention workshops of timely interest. Some of them will later be followed by special sections in TLE—the D&P Forum in July 2003—and/or online publication

Shallow Subsurface Radar (SHARAD) data from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter are acquired approximately 300 kilometers above the Martian polar icecap. In this report we detail how to adapt seismic 3D poststack downward continuation to allow constructi

In this abstract, we present a method for removing the shear wave artifacts that occur in anisotropic modeling under the acoustic approximation. The proposed method is based on an eigenvalue decomposition of the differential operator in the wavenumbe
