In this review we consider the basic elements of tapering chalcogenide optical fibers for the generation of extreme spectral broadening through supercontinuum generation. Creating tapered nanofiber devices in chalcogenide fiber, which has an intrinsi

We report the first demonstration of efficient, octave spanning soliton self-frequency shift. In order to achieve this we used a photonic crystal fiber with reduced OH absorption and widely spaced zero-dispersion wavelengths. To our knowledge, this i

We report on the generation of 2.04 μm light from an 801 nm Ti:Sapphire source via soliton self-frequency shift and resonant dispersive wave emission in a PCF with low OH loss and broad anomalous dispersion region.

An octave spanning spectrum is generated in an As 2 S 3 taper via 77 pJ pulses from an ultrafast fiber laser. Chirp compensation allows the octave to be generated directly from the un-amplified laser output.

An octave spanning spectrum is generated in an As₂S₃ taper via 77 pJ pulses from an ultrafast fiber laser. Using a previously developed tapering method, we construct a 1.3 μm taper that has a zero-dispersion wavelength around 1.4 μm. The low tw

We report the first demonstration of octave spanning soliton self-frequency shift in a OH absorption reduced fiber with widely-spaced zero-dispersion wavelengths. To our knowledge, this is the largest reported frequency tuning for a fiber-based sourc

We demonstrate broadband low power supercontinuum generation in arsenic sulphide (As 2 S 3 ) tapered fiber nanowires with an effective area ∼0.8 µm2 and nonlinearity γ = 12,400 W−1 km−1. Simulations showed good agreement between theory and ex
