Catalytic reduction of chiral 2-(2-pyridyl)-1,3-oxazolidines and 2-pyridyl imines derived from ( R )-phenylglycinol and ( R )-valinol afforded high diasteriomeric selectivity. Upon oxidative cleavage, the S - primary amine with high ee was obtained.
