Highlights The 1STST is a practical test to follow muscular weakness in patients with CF. The reduction of 1STST in patients with CF is correlated to MVCQ and to FEV1. The 1STST improved after an IV antibiotherapy, especially with rehabilitation.

Abstract Background Major incidents affect us globally, and are occurring with increasing frequency. There is still no evidence-based standard regarding the best medical emergency response to major incidents. Currently, reports on major incidents are

Background Quadriceps muscle weakness and reduced exercise tolerance are prevalent and associated with a worse prognosis in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). The one-minute sit-to-stand test (1STST) has been proposed to evaluate functional exercise

BackgroundImmune cells contain a specialised type of proteasome, i.e. the immunoproteasome, which is required for intracellular protein degradation. Immunoproteasomes are key regulators of immune cell differentiation, inflammatory activation and auto

Major incidents can exert significant stress on existing emergency systems as they attempt to address the fallout from such events. In the aftermath, there is a window of opportunity for evaluation where lessons can be noted and carried forward to in

The immunoproteasome is the main protein degrading system in immune cells and is essential for the resolution of viral infections. Immunoproteasome activity is markedly decreased in end-stage COPD lung tissue and expression is reduced in early-stage

Introduction: Peripheral muscle weakness and exercise intolerance are prevalent in cystic fibrosis (CF). They were associated with a worse prognosis. Measurement of the maximal isometric voluntary quadriceps force by a dynamometer is commonly used. T
